FAQs on Schedules

When should I contact an architect?
As soon as you consider starting a project! An architect can help you navigate the complex process of preparing for your project, including selecting and analyzing a property, and determining all the constraints and requirements.

We often have a several month waitlist for new projects, so the sooner you reach out, the sooner we can get you on the schedule and begin the process. The same goes for builders - they are sometimes booked even farther out!

How long will it take?
As with price, timelines will vary greatly from project to project. We recommend planning for roughly 4-6 months for the design process, plus another 2 months for permitting and approvals, and at least 6-12 months for construction.

What happens if it takes longer than expected?
This is a tricky question - it greatly depends on the reason for which the project has been delayed. The contract between homeowner and builder should clearly spell out the details for such situations and how to proceed. Always be sure to review the full contract with both the builder and architect so everyone is clear on expectations.

Sometimes things just take longer than expected, through no fault of anyone involved in the project. It's always best to plan for some contingency timing to help mitigate the risk of delays.
